The Return of the Buffalo

Our goal at Tanka Fund is to bring buffalo back to the Native community where their existence will help the lands, lives, and economies of our Native people. In the Fall of 2022, Tanka Fund worked with The Nature Conservancy to release 88 buffalo back into the care of Native American buffalo caretakers – across 10 different Native buffalo ranches. In 2023 that number increased to 356.

There are many things that must continue to take place to ensure these caretakers have everything they need to keep their operations thriving and without your help, supporting them wouldn’t be possible.
