300 Keychains. 30 Days. One Chance.

There's a gap. You know how that feels - the space between what you need and what you have. Tanka Fund is standing in that space right now.

But here's the beautiful thing: when one of our long-time supporters saw us there, they didn't just send thoughts. They rolled up their sleeves, gathered scrap leather from a native-owned furniture maker down the road, and started cutting. Folding. Stitching by hand. They made us 300 Buffalo leather keychains - not because they had time, but because they believed you would show up when it mattered.

We need to raise $30,000 in 30 days. That's what stands between our staff, our native ranchers, and the work of bringing Buffalo back to the lands and lives that miss them.

When you give $100 or more, we want you to have one of these keychains. Not as a "gift with purchase" - as a handshake. A thank you. A "you were there when it counted."

Something Made to Outlast Us

This is full-grain, reclaimed Buffalo leather, the kind that tells stories in its scars. Brass hardware that will darken and soften with the oil from your hands. Each one is folded origami-style from a single cut, stitched with one continuous waxed thread.

The person who made these hated waste. So the design has almost none - just 2.7 grams of thread trim across all 300 pieces. The leather itself was headed for a landfill: scraps from a furniture shop that believes, like we do, that no part of the Buffalo should be discarded. Even the edges are finished with beeswax, not factory paint. When they wear, you rub more wax in. When the stitching loosens years from now, you mend it with a needle and a few inches of thread.

That's the point. This isn't meant to be replaced. It's meant to be passed down - to accumulate the nicks and patina of a life lived alongside it. To become someone's "my grandmother’s keychain."

What You're Actually Holding

You're holding the hours of a volunteer who chose action over anxiety. You're holding a promise to native ranchers that they don't stand alone. You're holding proof that scraps can become heirlooms, that gaps can be closed, that Buffalo are coming home.

We have 300. When they're gone, they're gone.

Give $100 today. Carry the story forward.
